More news

Time for your latest Pam update-

We just got back from our latest visit at the hospital. Mom is pretty much the same as when we left her but we did get a bit more information on the plan.

Today they did try her on the graduated plan for ventilator weaning but she got too agitated so they had to turn her back up. They have had to up her sedation as she is more agitated and full of sass! They took some Xrays of her chest that showed excellent progress in her pneumothorax (the free air) and good lungs. So they are planning on removing the chest tube unless there are surprises tonight.

Tonight she is slated for a CT of her head but that has to be worked in around more emergent cases so we will see whether that happens before morning. Tomorrow they may try again on the ventilator weaning as well.

Her temperature is up a bit but tests for infection are good so far. It is probably just a response to all the damage and inflammation. But it is something they will be watching.

We met a whole new batch of doctors, nurses and specialty technicians today. All compassionate, committed and patient with us. And around us at every step are more and more acts of caring and love. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some pictures of Mom downloaded from my camera that i can attach for everyone.

Peace be with you and yours and thanks again for all the kind comments and thoughts-

Thank you SO much for taking the time to keep us updated. Pam and Roland have so deeply touched everyone in the choir; we have all called back and forth daily trying to comfort one another and thinking about what, if anything, we could do to help. Please know that our thoughts are constantly with your family... debora
